Can someone explain the permalinks directory structure please?
-
I am a little baffled by how permalinks work (among a lot of other things :)).
I have set it up to use a directory structure like this: /posts/year/month/date/postname – and it seems to be working fine.
However, I am entirely unable to locate these directories when I connect to my host with an ftp client. Are they “virtual” in a way I just cannot comprehend, so they do not actually exists as “real” directories/folders, or do I just need glasses?Since I hopefully got your attention I might as well throw in another question that has been bugging me for the last half hour.
I have tried to create a few pages (using the “pages” function), and while they seem to be generated without problems and they show up under management, hitting the view button or typing in the adress directly just results in a 404 (set to redirect to main page in my htaccess file).
Anyone who can explain this little phenomenon?
