Hello, I have encountered a MAJOR issue on my site which i spent 3 hours troubleshooting. I couldn’t update plugins, nor could i update my theme or my wordpress version. I researched and chatted with supports, and was getting errors in regards to SSL certificates on my site. I would see this in various areas including with the newsfeed on my wordpress dashboard, which said the following: RSS Error: WP HTTP Error: Problem with the SSL CA cert (path? access rights?)

After disabling all plugins, it allowed me to update wordpress, themes, and plugins. However, after re-enabling, issues came back. So, I went one by one and disabled my plugins, to see which one was blocking installs and updates. The culprit was document gallery.

Hostgator said the plugin that is causing the issue is most likely using code which involves SSL certificate, and if the site does’t have that it will break the wordpress.

    Hi Philip,

We are not doing anything related to SSL certs.

That said, which version of DG were you using? 4.1.10 had an HTTP bug related to an incorrectly documented WordPress core filter that is addressed in 4.1.11. We’re still investigating some other issues (see here: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/connection-issues-2), but if you have not tried 4.1.11 then that should be your first step.

There is definitely a problem here that I am having and other people are explaining my same symptoms. On another thread a lady said this:

Can I jump in as I was about to post a new issue, but see that this is the same thing I am having –
Hi, I have been having troubles with my site, I can’t add new plug in and jet pack wouldn’t connect. I have spoken to hosting and they have said it must be a plug in. So I have gone through each plug in, the culprit is Document Gallery. I noticed that you had been having issues so I deleted and downloaded the most up to date version, says it was updated 2 days ago. Same problem occurs. I get a grey screen with ‘unexpected error’ if I try to go to ‘add new plug in’, also Jetpack won’t connect to wordpress when DG is active.

I’m not a developer, so I use a plug in to avoid having to get into code, so not too happy trying to add/remove code as per your workaround. Just letting you know that the issue has not been fixed by your latest release.

I’m closing this thread as it’s being addressed over here: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/connection-issues-2.
