can jetpack automatically add a post to self-hosted site from wordpress.com blog

We have a blog at wordpress.com that we don’t intend to move. Does jetpack tie the two sites together, so that if a post is published on wordpress.com it can automatically also be published on a self-hosted wordpress site? I’ve read the features page on jetpack.me but it isn’t clear, and don’t want to get another person involved for login credentials if jetpack doesn’t do what we need.
