Support » Localhost Installs » From Localhost to Debian [404 error on a tab]

  • Hi all,

I’ve been editing my WordPress’s page at local level (\localhost) and, I moved it to my Debian 8, copying my .sql folder, and my wordpress folder, as usual.

And everything seemed to be OK, the images were there, the links when I clicked to a mirror, etc, but:

Everytime I click on a tab, it crashes and shows this to me:
    Not Found
The requested URL /[**the tab**]/ was not found on this server.
    Apache/2.4.10 (Debian)

It happens in every tab, and it doesn’t matter if I create a new one. Still happens.
I’ve looked at the permalinks options and they are correct: http://www.example.com/tab
I’ve tryed everything and I cant fix it. Any help?

    Thank you very much.

  • A) Moving the sql files is living dangerously, it will not work for all sorts of reasons. Much better to EXPORT and IMPORT databases, or use the plugin DUPLICATOR to do the export and also help with adjusting the database to live at a different web address.

    B) Even if the permalinks setting looks correct, it is still necessary to SAVE the setting, this creates the .htaccess file which is required to make the permalinks work.

    C) Look at your pages using firebug, check that the menu addresses (tabs) have the correct form, this helps you getting your hosting settings aligned with your website’s requirements.
