• I’m reading and trying for 3 hours now and every option I find is not working!

    I am not able to upgrade. I can’t, it’s impossible to update from Wp Admin backend !

    My WordPress was 4.3.1 and I was unable to update anything. So…
    – My host upgraded it’s server from PHP 5.3 to 5.6
    – I have updated manually my WordPress to 4.4.1
    – I have added into wp-config.php ;
    define( ‘FTP_USER’, ‘aaa’ );
    define( ‘FTP_PASS’, ‘aaa’ );
    define( ‘FTP_HOST’, ‘ftp.aaa.com’ );
    define(‘FS_CHMOD_FILE’, 0755);
    define(‘FS_CHMOD_DIR’, 0644);

    I still get that same message every time I try to update a plugin ;
    Failed to connect to FTP Server http://ftp.aaa.com:21

    Update

    define(‘FS_METHOD’, ‘direct’);

    I added this line to wp-config.php and I was able to update plugins (ffiinnaallyy!! Lol). But the question is still there… why that happen and when can I remove these new lines of code I added myself to my config file ? Is it related to my host ? If yes what can I ask or do ?
