Hi there!
You can use the Say What plugin to make one-off string changes like that:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/say-what/
Use the text domain “wp-job-manager”.
Thanks!
Hi, Thanks for your reply – however this doesn’t seem to change the role names. If there another way I can do this ?
Thanks
Susan
Susan,
Hmm, Say What should work, as the role name is translatable as you can see here:
https://github.com/Automattic/WP-Job-Manager/blob/1.24.0/includes/class-wp-job-manager-install.php#L58
How did you configure the Say What text change? Did you use the “wp-job-manager” text domain?
To translate “Candidate” the text domain is “wp-job-manager-resumes”, since that user role is created by the Resumes add-on.
Hi, thanks for your reply – I have now got the following details in Say What:
Original String: Candidate
Text domain: wp-job-manager-resumes
Replacement String: Job Seeker
For Employer I have:
Original string: Employer
Text domain: wp-job-manager
Replacement string: Employer / Recuiter
Neither of these seem to work (see the “I am a” drop-down box on this page:
http://locateatradie.com/register-2
(this is the main page that we need the change made).
Thanks
Susan
Neither of these seem to work
Do the strings translate in other places? For example, if you go to Users > Add New in your WordPress dashboard, can you see the “translated” names in the Role dropdown?

Hi Adam, When I go to the Add New page, the roles aren’t translated their either, they still have “Candidate” and “Employer”.
Thanks
Susan
“Candidate” and “Employer” seems to be standard role names when we installed Job Manager.
I think you may find the textdomains are wp-job-manager, not wp-job-manager-resumes
https://github.com/Automattic/WP-Job-Manager/blob/89d75fe34031fc234bb57079bf65e08d0f566be7/includes/class-wp-job-manager-install.php#L58
And since its displaying in the reg page (created by the theme) you’ll need to translate the themes version of the string also in addition.
Hi,
I have the same problem. I tried every domain you sugested plus “jobify” which is my theme. No luck at all…
Hi marcomartinsfilho,
Could you please start your own thread, as per the Forum Welcome?

Thank you!
Hi Susan,
Just use ‘User Role Editor’ plugin to change your user roles names. It’s not a silver bullet if you have multi-language site, but it works great with single-language sites.
Best Regards!
