I made a wordpress theme for one of our clients. The site works fine and the client is very happy using wordpress to add content to the site.

However we have tried using some software and an online service to build an XML sitemap of the site and we have come across a strange problem that I have been unable to solve. When we run a sitemap generator over the site it starts generating recursive links such as: –

    http://www.domain.co.uk/index.php/news/news/news/news/news/news/news/news/general

The generation of the sitemap never completes. I have searched all the code for index.php/ links and cannot find any. As far as using the site is concerned we cannot find a problem.

Can anyone think of why this is happening?

    Thanks for reading this post.

I discovered that wordpress is installed in a subdirectory so this sitemap generation problem is not down to WordPress. I shall go fault hunting elsewhere !
