white screen of death on an outdated theme– need advice badly!
-
I am learning as I go about WordPress, and was recently put in charge of a site that runs off a theme. It hadn’t been touched since 2012. I went to update the installed theme, and when I click ‘download’ I receive the “white screen of death”. I need help on how to resolve this issue so I can access my content.
Note: I can login to the admin panel, and I can click around in there. It is only when I click to access the content on the WordPress Site and when I try to update the theme to the more recent version that I receive the perpetual white screen. Do I have to reinstall WordPress to fix, or do you know another way around?! Grateful for any direction/insight. The only thing I can think of is that the theme was somehow customized, and trying to update the theme overrode something fairly essential. Thanks for the help in advance, very new to WordPress.
