Totally lost with this theme

Hi guys, I just found your charity review theme and have it installed on my charity site and am playing with it. It seems too simplistic.. like i am missing something – it says the theme is free, but i can’t get it to do much. For example:

i cant get it to show 3 blogs across the width of the page like your demo shows. I cant get it to show anything below the header area like your demo does. also, my site title is too long for the blue box up top, so part of my charity name is running off into the black box area. Also, i’m trying to use backupwordpress plugin (which i’m using on another site) but it says the php is outdated – i’m not too tech so not sure what that means.

Does this theme include a paid upgrade? I have run into this before where the paid upgrade is the one that offers the options shown in the demo. hoping its not the case.
