Multisite install; (WP 4.4, Jetpack 3.8.2) Primary blog (http://cmglobal.org); When I attempt to connect Jetpack, I get this message:

Your Jetpack has a glitch. Something went wrong that’s never supposed to happen. Guess you’re just lucky: xml_rpc-32700
    Try connecting again.
Error Details: The Jetpack server could not communicate with your site’s XML-RPC URL. Please check to make sure http://cmglobal.org/xmlrpc.php is working properly. It should show ‘XML‑RPC server accepts POST requests only.’ on a line by itself when viewed in a browser and should not have any blank links or extra output anywhere.

    I’ve checked XML-RPC — works just fine
I’ve disconnected the site from my wordpress.com dashboard (thinking that maybe it was cross-wired and if I cleared everything and started over it would help).

Jetpack is network enabled; If I go to sites, I see the “connect Jetpack” message; when I try to connect, I see the message above.

There are a couple of subsites that are connected, but they are connected to a different wordpress.com user. In the end, all will be connected to the same WordPress.com user.
(I am trying to sort out some client sites from my own personal sites — hence the 2 WordPress.com users).
