Post Format Status, Aside (others?) Title Not Shown

Vanilla v4.4 and the Twenty Sixteen theme: The Title doesn’t display in the front-end for posts with format Status and Aside. The theme says it supports “Post Formats” and the code looks like it’s there in various PHP file. (In the past there were notes about modifying code to enabled non-Standard post formats.)

I’ve looked around for other reports but haven’t seen anything. I can’t tell if this is an issue with settings, theme, code, or a user/me error – or defined/correct behaviour. I understand that an Aside may not be intended to display with a title, and a Status could fit that as well. But I don’t see special treatment in the code or CSS. If it’s working the way it should I don’t understand why.

I’m no stud with this so please don’t be harsh if this turns out to be simple. 🙂
