• I made some security changes recommended by Yoast now I can’t get into my dashboard and website is down

  • What were those changes? If you did something in the .htaccess file, rename it and check if the site works.

    I can’t remember the name of the security I used, but as I was hacked twice last year I am a bit paranoid about it happening again.
    The security page showed me that certain aspects were vital to keep my website secure. I think all the things I changed were to the ‘backend’ of my site. I only have control of the ‘frontend’.
    Remove core update notifications from backend for all but administrators.
    Disable error repeating (phph db) for all but administrators
    Remove various meta tags generators from blog heads tag for non-administrators
    Hide Word Press version for all users but administrators

    As the instructions all but administrators I assumed that the changes I made would not affect me using my dashboard and the site would remain live.
