    Hello Dan!

Here I go again with a new question which probably could end up in a simple new usefull feature. It is related to automatically scrolling to the top of the page when the user clicks on the “next page” ou “previous page” buttons. BTW … this “issue” only rises when the user is ZOOMING into a page.

Open for opinions! I have been testing/using the plugin more often, as the site I am developing is getting closer to the end, and I have found out a behaviour which does not seem (at least to me) the most desirable. Other people might disagree, so I start this thread in order for more people to have a word on it and for you to give the final word/decision.

Current behavior. Depending upon the screen size (small phone, large phone, table, pc) and layout (horizontal or vertical) the user is using to read a pdf, sometimes he needs to zoom in in order to be able to actually read the contents. My e-books are all vertical A4 pages, a well stablished standard. So, when the user needs to zoom in to view the bottom of the page in a horizontal screen (e.g. pc, tablet in horizontal, mobile in horizontal), he is not seeing the top anymore. What happens when he clicks the “next page” button is that he is taken, as expected, to the next page, but the rendering in the canvas is still at the bottom of the next page; it renders the next page with the same zoom and position as it was rendering the previous screen. Because of this, the user has to scroll up to the top of the page everytime he clicks on the “next page” button. This seems to me an unpleasant behavior. Maybe this functionality was planned for some reason which I do not see, so please enlighten me if I am seeming “shortminded” in relation to other people’s needs.

Desirable behavior. Thus, I suggest that the fuctionality of the plugin be changed to an automatic scroll to top of the page when the user clicks “next page” or “previous page”, because he will probably want to start reading from the top, and not from the bottom where he left off on the previous page. If this functionality I am suggesting causes any problem to other clients of this plugin, I would add another suggestion: a settings checkbox for the automatic scroll to top feature.

Dan, sorry for causing you more trouble with features not currently available. I just guess a lot a people can benefit from this. Furthermore, as in the case of the “no right click on the canvas” feature, I believe this is another easy to implement functionality.

Hoping to hear from Dan and other clients.

    best regards to all,
    Giovanni

  • Giovanni,

Thanks for this – I only just picked it up.

It’s a good suggestion, at least as an option. I’ll have a think and collect any other feedback, and in any case add it to our list for possible future development.

    Regards,

    Dan

    Thank you very much Dan!

I am really looking forward to this, as it will be extremely useful for the e-learning site I am building and expect to release within the next few weeks.

When would you guess this feature would be deployed?

    best regards,
    Giovanni
