public_html/wp-includes/random_compat/random.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/earthactivisttra/public_html/wp-includes/compat.php on line 338

whole folder gone after last upgrade??

I replaced the folder from another site. Now it is telling me that wp-includes/function.php is truncated and indeed it is. it ends at 5058, where as my other website goes up to 5167. Is function.php a standard file on all WordPress installations or would it have specific relation to this particular website. I am at my wits end.

  • You might try performing a Manual Update (remember to read through all the steps before beginning).

What a good idea. Thank you. I am going to try to replace includes/function.php and if it still does not work, I will do the manual upgrade. What a pain in the patootie!! Thanks again

    You’re welcome!

What happened was that every time I replaced a flawed or truncated php file, it would come up with another one. It seemed endless. So I bit the bullet and did the manual update. It was not half as hard as I thought it was going to be. Since I could not access my site at all to deactivate the plugins, using an FTP program, I moved them all to a temporary folder and once everything else was done, I moved them back into wp-content.

All is well, thank God. I was thinking I was going to have to do a total rebuild. Curse that hacker whoever it was.
