categories not working

Hi all

On the standard default theme the categories work fine. But when I use a different theme, when I click on the category, instead of just showing the posts in that category, it shows them all?

I’ve tried to contact the theme creator but with know luck getting any feedback.

Just wondering if there might be something simple I’m missing
