• Using WP 4.3.1 and the Twenty Fourteen theme.

The site no longer shows the menu titled “Featured Content” as part of the Appearance – Customization options.
Its simply not there. It does show: Site Identity / Colors / Header Image / Background / Menus / Static Front Page but no “Featured Content” menu item.

I also receive a Session expired. Please log in again. You will not move away from this page. – whenever i select the Appearance – customize option.

    I have disabled all plugins
I have also switched from the child theme to the main theme for twenty fourteen – with all plugins disabled.

I’ve reloaded the current WP 4.3.1 theme and also updated the twenty fourteen update.

I see a few other similar problems in the past year+ but without a related solution? Any ideas anyone?

    Edit to Title:

Should Be:… Featured Content “MENU” option Missing
The missing menu from Appearance / Customize makes it impossible to make any changes to the Featured Content style (Grid or Slider) as the menu has disappeared. It worked fine before but for some reason the menu has completely disappeared.

Previous posts on this by others as already referenced seems to relate to a jetpack plugin. Jetpack has never been used with this site.

thank you for any assistance that anyone can provide – if this is the incorrect section to post this, can someone please advise me.

Same thing happened to me. At some point in the past few months this menu option just went away. Now I cannot switch from the grid to the slider, or change the tag used to select posts as “featured” posts.

    I am using Jetpack fyi.

I was able to solve mine… let me take a look at what I might have done and I’ll post it back here (which I should have already done ).
