• On my Louisville, Kentucky. Derby Home Rentals website, I’m running WordPress 4.3.1 and Jetpack 3.8. The theme is WooThemes’s Canvas 5.6.4.

When I post a link on my social media pages, how can I control which image loads by detault?

For example, take this page When I share it on Google+, the first image (of the exterior of the house) appears—that’s also the image I’ve selected to be the feature image in the WordPress CMS. And that’s the result I want.

But when I post that same link to Facebook, the default photo options are the last two images on the page (of the bathroom) or the site’s logo. On Linked sometimes the first image shows up, but other times it says “No image found. Upload your own.” And on Tumblr and Twitter, no image loads at all.

How can I ensure the first image or featured image appears? Thanks!

  • Not sure if you’re using the Yoast SEO plugin, but I believe there are some setting included there to set which image displays for the particular post.

Thanks for the response Will. I’m using All in One SEO which has a similar setting. I’ve also selected the image I want in that field, but it doesn’t work either.
