Ok, the best way to ask, I think, is just to describe what I want to do.

I’m making a site of pictures of past football players and I want to be able to choose a team and have a list of players displayed. You can then choose the player and see a gallery of their pictures.
I thought the best way would be to make each “team” an album and include galleries of the players. But the problem is many players played for more than 1 team and the issue is being able to display only pictures of that player with that respective team.
I did try using tags and shortcode and it’s not really going to work for what I want to do. Is there a way to use another shortcode to achieve what I’m looking for?

Is there a way to have the tags-generated-gallery display like it would be a regular gallery in Album view?

Hi @philbeaux! We have a help guide on our website here that details out how to build a shortcode to do just what you’re describing: http://www.nextgen-gallery.com/nextgen-gallery-shortcodes/ Creating galleries based on tags: http://www.nextgen-gallery.com/display-galleries-based-tags/

    Hope that helps!

Thank You Becky. I did look at those and they were a great help.
I managed to get it to work with tags. It’s working for the most part.
The problem is the final display. Galleries created with tags have the thumbnails displayed in a “grid”. Want I want is for the gallery to be displayed with a “cover” image, like an it would in an album. Is there a way to do this with shortcode?
I did find a work around, but it’s a little trouble.

@philbeaux – Your work-around might be best … at least without knowing exactly what you are doing now to start with.

    Thanks!

I realize my question is a little vague and without specifically showing you on a page it may be difficult to understand.
