Language switcher doesn't change meta-content
-
We are able to enter the meta information for the English side, but switching to the other language doesn’t change the content. In other words, the content is static regardless of the language we’re selecting.
I see a couple of other similar issues resolved by this process:
https://wordpress.org/support/topic/not-working-with-qtranslate-x-3464?replies=3But that didn’t work for us. Still the same issue.

I am also experiencing this 🙁
Hi, you failed to mention the versions you are using but this may help:
There is currently an issue with Yoast SEO v 3.0 and upwards with
Yoast SEO & qTranslate-Xhttp://qtranslate-x.com/support/index.php?PHPSESSID=h7rub5u9ufll703qufgc6mnu76&topic=58.0
it does not work, several changes were made and Yoast SEO & qTranslate-X needs to be updated which may take a while as Yoast may need to change itself as there are many complaints, the solution for now is use Yoast v2.3.5 https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/wordpress-seo.2.3.5.zip which works fine, until this plugin gets updated.
leslierad, thanks for the solution! With the old v2.3.5 works fine
Hello. Now the majority of people have the version 3. Does anybody know how to solve this issue in v3?
Thanks
This is the same as I have put in https://wordpress.org/support/topic/update-required-yoast-seo-qtranslate-x?replies=6#post-7970408, but place it here too, for your reference.
There is quite a difference in the behavior of the meta fields, depending on whether I change their values or not and what Yoast SEO version you are using. Let’s see 3 cases, but first the setup:
WordPress Version 4.4.1 (es_ES)
– Yoast SEO Version 3.0.7
– Yoast SEO & qTranslate-X = Version 1.1
– qTranslate-X version Version 3.4.6.4
– qTranslate slug Version 1.1.18CASE 1 – WITHOUT changing the Title and Description fields of Yoast SEO
This is how it looks in the default language (Spanish) ES: http://screencast.com/t/mVxJBVRMPrC – The meta description shows internal code, the rest is normal.
This is how it looks after switching to English EN: http://screencast.com/t/3jyjpilm – The meta keyword and title has changed correctly and even the meta description has changed its internal code, only the main SEO evaluation keyword (Palabra clave principal) has kept the Spanish value.
Sometimes I have also seen the first lines of the text as meta description, so the internal code is not shown always. If I clear the meta description value again, the behavior is as in case 1.
CASE 2 – WITH changing the Title and Description fields of Yoast SEO
Here I only need to show the English part, where the corresponding title and description field always keep the last entered values in both languages, http://screencast.com/t/LemXqHaaB.
So if I change the now the English part this will be also shown in the Spanish side: http://screencast.com/t/UVXRoGyCAj
CASE 3 – Using Yoast SEO Version 2.3.5
I deactivated and uninstalled Yoast SEO Version 3.0.7 and then installed Yoast SEO Version 2.3.5 (https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/wordpress-seo.2.3.5.zip).
After that all works fine. And although after changing the language Yoast does not change the snippet preview, http://screencast.com/t/2lI6huicaa, it will once you refresh the page. I have also verified the metas of each language in the source code and they are correct.
For now, I will keep Yoast SEO Version 2.3.5, but would love to know when this problem has been resolved.
Good morning akleines2, many thanks for this. I have installed v2.3.5 and the snippet view and title change in the SEO boxes but not in he finished snippet preview even after refreshing the page. Is this correct?
Note: the correct URL above in the phrase “And although after changing the language Yoast does not change the snippet preview, http://screencast.com/t/2lI6huicaa,…” is http://screencast.com/t/2lI6huica (there was a trailing “a” in the URL).
#Tagomago. You did not even include a capture to demonstrate what you mean. I.e. did you add the SEO title? If not it won’t change.
Here is what I did to rerun the test:
1. Created a new page in Spanish and saved it
2. Added the values to the English language and saved it
3. Capture of the EN http://screencast.com/t/yuji6LIxuczf
4. Switch to ES: The SEO snippet doesn’t change: http://screencast.com/t/0AEyEWDzkcb
5. Refreshed the page with F5 and now also the snippet changed: http://screencast.com/t/8nhIut1U7bC
6. Switches back to EN and the snippet does not change again: http://screencast.com/t/G0egL6VceGO, but after refreshing or saving the page it will
In summary, although the visual snipped did not change after switching languages, internally it is stored correctly. Refresh the page to make sure you see the correct version.
Many thanks akleines2, I really appreciate your help on this, I’m new to all this. Please excuse me if I didn’t pose my question with the screenshot etc. Your explanation is very clear. I now have it working as you said.
I’m very grateful.Your welcome #Tagomago. In case you have no screen capture software that stores the images in the cloud, you can use jing (https://www.techsmith.com/jing.html) like I do.
Thanks again. No I don’t have this software. So kind of you.
All the best.Hi All,
Could you please test the new version: https://github.com/qTranslate-Team/wp-seo-qtranslate-x/releases/tag/1.2 before it is released?
Let us know what else is not working.
Do not forget to get the latest qtx too: https://github.com/qTranslate-Team/qtranslate-x/archive/stable.zip
Thanks a lot!
I’m afraid I don’t really understand what this is about! Does it sort the problem of multi language sites Yoast SEO? See above conversation?
Many thanks.
Hi @tagomago, it is supposed to be a fix for all problems people had with Yoast SEO plugin under qTranslate-X after Yoast has re-designed their code in the version 3.0. I asked people on all threads of this plugin to test it, since it affects everybody. You do not have to do anything if you do not have time for this, you will simply update the plugin when it is released hopefully soon enough.
