Cloaked link URL issue

    Hi,

    Liking what I’m seeing with the plugin, but I’ve run into something odd that I can’t seem to figure out.

    If I create a link called “test” with an ID of 123, I expect the cloaked link to be mydomain.com/recommends/test.

    Instead the link is showing up as mydomain.com/recommends/123-2

    This happens for all links created with the plugin.

    Any idea what could be causing this? I’ve run through some basic troubleshooting such as disabling all other plugins, to no avail.

    Hi ApinaPress,

    Can you let me know what you have your permalinks set to on Settings->Permalinks?

    Typically it should be postname.

    Postname. Permalinks were flushed.

    Hi ApinaPress,

    Are you able to edit the slug and change it to something else ok?

    Usually the ID is only used for the slug when the Link Name hasn’t been filled in and the link has been saved.

    Huh, OK something has changed (user error perhaps?) and it’s now saving them correctly. I didn’t even see the edit slug options, so thanks for that, that’s good to know about.

    The only way I could recreate the issue is, as you say, save the link without a title, then add a title in and save and it produces an ID based link. It’s not how I did my first 6 links though, so not sure what went wrong there but it seems to be functioning now.
