Could be better

Since WordPress 4.0, Flato has messed with the backend a bit. I’ve tried and tried to tweak it to not mess up certain parts (e.g. comments list on the “Recent Activity” widget).

Flato could use more customization freedom — the categories, for example, only show if there are two or more categories. I’ve tweaked the code and got them to show nevertheless before, but am now unable to do so without intense customization. It’s a great theme to build off of, but otherwise, it really needs an update.

I don’t recommend this theme to users who want a low-maintenance theme or an easily-customizable theme, as this breaks a little with each WP update. (I’m only putting up with it for my child theme until I can afford to book a [non-Genesis] designer.)
