    I’ve tried this and, yes, you’re right. The controls are still there and clickable, just not visible. This appears to be a bug of some kind in Firefox.

    It took me a while to get to the bottom of it but it only occurs if you’re not using SSL – i.e. the YouTube video begins “http” instead of “https”. If you go into the profiles and switch on SSL then the issue goes away.

    Weird.

    However, Mozilla’s response (they’re able to recreate it themselves) is to “use SSL”. Not very helpful.
