• Hi,

    I have installed wordpress in a directory of a URL:

    HERE-> http://goo.gl/JOKJ3n

    The main URL has also a wordpress installation, however it works independently as you can see here -> http://goo.gl/83zaQ3

    So both installations of wordpress are independent. The reason to do this is to set up a testing environment.

    In the directory I have installed the demo content of a theme however URL’s apart from the home do not work, as you can see with this URL -> http://goo.gl/WhXcAU You can also check this by clicking in any of the links of the homepage -> http://goo.gl/83zaQ3

    I don’t know why this is happening. Could you possibly help me? Is this maybe due to the URL in the database?

    Thanks for your support,
    Jay

  • 1) the main site shows just a place holder
    2) remember that putting a site inside the root of another site can cause issues with permalink since all .htaccess files are processed from the lowest folder to the highest folder fithe the higher level folder taking precidence.

    Why not just create a subdomain? if your main site is my domain.com and you need a test site call it test.mydomain.com – both pointing to seperate root folders to avoid confusion.

    Yep, thanks. I did try this before in dorectory and it worked. 🙁
    Anyway, I changed it to a subdomain as you asked and it works now. Thanks
