• Hi there,

    hope you are well.

After working on a fix with Retina 2x images not being cropped properly by the Manual Image Crop plugin (an issue I know you’re already aware of, but which thankfully has now been fixed by an impatient user), I noticed that all 2x images are now not being loaded!?

The reason why I flag it here and not in the previous thread about Manual Image Crop, is that I don’t believe is has anything to do with this at all (but then again, you never know!). I also noticed that when I use the inspector tool (in Chrome), the sources are no longer shown as they used to, ie:

    src=”//website.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/20150207_020-518×518.jpg”

    VS

    src=”http://website.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/20150207_020-518×518.jpg”

As you can see, the ‘http:’ is missing.

Here’s the site which holds the issue: http://bit.ly/1Hn5bgP

I don’t know if I am all wrong and if this has got nothing to do with it whatsoever, but I couldn’t find any other reason for why the Retina 2x images won’t load. I also disabled plugins that I thought could affect this (incl. Manual Image Crop), but that didn’t help either 🙁

    Any suggestions for a fix?

    Thanks,

    Jonas

Hmmm… Maybe it’s because I’ve used Visual Composer. I think that might be, actually 🙁 If I’m right, is there then anyway in which you can make Retina also overwrite sources generated by Visual Composer?

But then again, it’s also not working on elements that aren’t added with Visual Composer – such as the header logo… Strange…

    Hello,

    What is the Visual Composer?

So basically all the links created by the Visual Composter doesn’t use http, only //? Is that it?

What is the URL (in the HTML) of your header logo? How is it written? Are you also sure there is a @2x version of it?

    Hi Jordy,

    Thanks for your quick response.

Here’s the Visual Composer plugin: http://codecanyon.net/item/visual-composer-page-builder-for-wordpress/242431

After I suggested to you that the issue was caused by the Visual Composer plugin, I realised that it’s not only elements that have been added using this plugin that are affected, ie. the header logo is also not being loaded correctly.

    Here’s the header logo’s URL: http://lilykamper.com/wp-content/themes/Design-elements/LilySmallLogo.png

–and as you can see, there’s a @2x version here: http://lilykamper.com/wp-content/themes/Design-elements/LilySmallLogo@2x.png

It used to work and so that suggests to me that the Retina rules are now being overwritten/disabled by an updated plugin or by WordPress itself.

Here’s a list of plugins I’ve got installed:

    404 to 301: by Joel James – 2.0.9
Adminimize: by Frank Bültge – 1.8.5
CloudFlare: by Ian Pye, Jerome Chen, James Greene, Simon Moore, David Fritsch (CloudFlare Team) – 1.3.19
Contact Form 7: by Takayuki Miyoshi – 4.3

Custom Sidebars: by WPMU DEV – 2.1.0.2

Members: by Justin Tadlock – 1.1.0
Remove “Comments are closed”: by Per Soderlind – 1.2.1
Reveal IDs: by Oliver Schlöbe – 1.4.6.1
Revolution Slider: by ThemePunch – 5.0.9
Simple Image Sizes: by Rahe – 3.0.9
Social Media Widget: by – 10.0
Typekit Fonts for WordPress: by OM4 – 1.8
    UpdraftPlus – Backup/Restore: by UpdraftPlus.Com, DavidAnderson – 1.11.15
WooCommerce Product Gift Wrap: by Mike Jolley – 1.1.0
    WooCommerce: by WooThemes – 2.4.8
Yoast SEO: by Team Yoast – 2.3.5
Manual Image Crop: by Tomasz Sita – 1.12
WP Retina 2x: by Jordy Meow – 3.5.4

Do you see any potential conflicts?

I’m wondering if re-writing the HTML (as Retina does) requires any special permissions on the server(?). Mine was recently changed due to a spam attack – but that should be all fixed now… Anyway, I’ll keep trying out things and keep you updated if I find a solution.

    Many thanks,

    Jonas

    [Just a follow up]

    Unfortunately, I haven’t found a solution yet 🙁

It couldn’t have anything to do with this update of Manual Image Crop?:

    https://github.com/tomaszsita/wp-manual-image-crop/pull/40/files

Although when I disabled Manual Image Crop that didn’t help – I tried clearing the caches too, but that didn’t help either. That said, I don’t really trust caches very much…

    So strange…

    Hi there Jordy,

    Hope you are well.

Just wondering if you’ve had any chance of looking at my problem? I still can’t work out why it’s not working!? 🙁

Your help will be greatly appreciated, and I’m happy to give you back-end access if that’s useful in any way.

    Thanks,

    Jonas

Can you send me an email to support@meow.fr ? I don’t have much time to look at it right away but I might find a solution in 2 weeks or so (I need to release a new version of the plugin).
