• I want remove or replace some files that I have on my site, files that are downloadable by visitors. Before I remove the files, I want to be sure that I have removed any links to those files that I have anywhere on my site. How do I find out where in my site have links to those files?

    Thanks

You have a couple of options. Database search and replace plugins can scan the db and see where there are instances of the url for your files you can then manually edit. The other useful plugin is the Broken Links Checker plugin. Once you remove the file then that plugin will scan the database and identify any links to that image or file and you can use that plugin to resolve the missing link, de-link or create a redirect to where you’d like the link to go instead.

    OK thanks for the info.

I will look into the two techniques you suggested.

    Thanks
