The WordPress.org search bar (located in the upper right hand corner of the page) is really, really bad.

I am looking for information on why I am unable to get individual posts to load in single.php but searching for “single” or “single.php” or “individual post” all return zero hits, both in the forums and the documentation.

Now, I know there are posts in the forums with single AND single.php in the title, let alone in the body. And I also know that the documentation mentions single.php and individual posts. I know because I’ve manually trawled through all this BS to find them.

Rather than waste my time scanning every post in the forums for relevant material, it would be really nice to have a working search feature here at WordPress.org.

Make it happen guys, this is embarassing.

I’ve just got 359 hits by searching on ‘single.php’. I have had the same thing happen to me, though. A search returns zero results when I’m 99.9% certain that there is something relevant in the Codex. However, I’ve found that if I simply hit the Search button again, I will get a lists of posts, so I’ve tended to assume that it’s a temporary server issue.

Google search works well…will find you anything you want with a little logical searching.

‘Yup. I agree. There’s ten seconds worth of effort you’ll never get back.
