• I’m hoping that I can have the domain already setup with a private ssl cert already to go first then install wordpress to “https://domainname.com” so there’s will be no need for any redirects or have to install a security plugin. I want the entire site to be installed to and run from https from the beginning. Is that possible?

  • well http or https is same for a WP setup – like calling google fonts

    so, yes, no issue!,

but why would you need a redirect?

can you install WP to https so you don’t need a redirect?

Yes. But many put in the redirect simply because some people will put into the browser http://your-site/ and when they do not get redirected to the correct https://your-site/ they get discouraged.

If WordPress picks up the URL request then it will send them to the correct URL automatically. If not then you may want a redirect.
