Monthly archives don’t work after change of permalinks?

    Sorry for stupid question but this is really annoying and I can’t find the answer in the forum.

    I have changed my permalink structure from /blog/year/month/day/post to /blog/category/post. And now my monthly archives aren’t working any more. Is this normal? Or is this a problem?
    (in other words; in case you want to have a monthly archive you always need a permalink with date conventions in it?)

    I changed the structure because of seo benefits…more readable urls. But I need a monthly archive for blogging reasons.

    Please advise?

    I believe you need to configure permalinks structure. Or use redirection –>
    [spam link moderated]
    But try configuring it first.

    Thx, I knew that redirection is a good tool to redirect. I use it as well but that was not the question.

    Is it possible to have an monthly archive while the permalink structure is set to /blog/category/post?

    Mine doesn’t work and that is the problem.

    Please advise?

    Sorry to bother again but this issue is causing a lot of pain and I am desperate to get an answer? Otherwise I need to change back the permalink structure which will create again an issue with the search engines for their indexes.

    It seems that more wordpress users have a comparable problem but also their questions remain unresolved. Can somebody of the WP development team look into this because according to me it’s quite an important issue, not only for me. 😉

    I have changed the permalinks back to default http://www.bjjtrip.com/?p=123 even than the monthly archives don’t work. Somehow the monthly archives are not reachable?

    Anybody having a comparable problem? Archives don’t work!

    Does anybody know if .htaccess can cause the archive problem? Maybe due to a redirect… It looks like the page /blog/2009/02 is “redirected” to the homepage.

    Thank God i found the solution! Actually I created the “problem” myself by using the plugin Robots Meta and DISABLING the date-based archives!!! It would 301 redirect to the home-page as it exactly did.

    Man, I am happy that I solved my own stupidity!

    I thought it might be useful for other users as well in case they have a comparable problem.
