wp-config.php file keeps disappearing

Greetings,

On one of my sites, the wp-config.php file has disappeared twice now. The site (http://hawaii.aaptsections.org/) has been running for a couple years with no problem, then on October 2nd, the author of the site informed me he could not log in, that the site said WP was not installed. I checked via FTP, and noticed that the wp-config.php file was missing. I uploaded it (with the correct settings) and WP went back to working with no problems.

Then, today, four days later, I get a message that the site is not working again. I check, and it’s the same problem. The site is now working with the re-uploaded wp-config.php file.

I have contacted my server hosting company, and they may give me an answer, but I thought I’d post here as well, as I have seen simliar, but not identical, problems reported here.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

If I do hear back from my host, I’ll post the solution here so it will be documented here.
