    Hiya,
This looks to be a useful plugin – Thank you.

Please see the site: <p>Total Business Training Blog</p>

I have tried maniuplating the shortcode for over a day now trying to get the following configuration:

    Show Related Posts (3 options)
    Show Related Pages (3 options)
    Show Related Products (3 options)

(They are all held together ie the common factor is the category that they are indexed in.)

May I please ask what kind of shortcode would produce this kind of result?

As always, Many Thanks for your plugin and also for any kind support!
    Cheers
    TelB

    Hi there TelB,

Well first of all, are you certain that the category taxonomy is shared across all post types? I only ask because, by default, this taxonomy is only enabled for posts, so you would’ve had to enable it for pages and products as well. Assuming you’ve done that, then your shortcodes would respectively look like:

    [ssrp post_types="post" number_of_posts="3"]
    [ssrp post_types="pages" number_of_posts="3"]
[ssrp post_types="products" number_of_posts="3"] (assuming products is the post type slug)

If you truly are using the native category taxonomy across all 3 posts types, then you shouldn’t need to specify the shortcode’s taxonomy attribute since it defaults to category.

Let me know if this solves it for you, or if you still have questions.

    Hiya Mickey,
Very good of you indeed to provide a reply! 🙂
    Much appreciated indeed!

Yes, I do have a common taxonomy albeit that I have had to create it manually. So, there is not a single database index covering all the instances. Rather, I have had to create the taxonomy individually for each post-type.

This implementation can be viewed at:
    Total Business Training

So, the taxonomy going across posts, pages, forums, RSS etc is all indivudal and separate from each other.

    Cat1-1
    Post1
    Post2
    Post3

    Cat1-2
    Page1
    Page2
    Page3

    Cat1-3
    Forum1
    Forum2
    Forum3

I have activated your plugin and am playing now with your kind asvice above

    Cheers

    Hi again TelB,

Unfortunately, this won’t work, as the taxonomy must be shared across all post types, not just individually recreated for each one. You can try my solution, but I’m doubtful that it will work given the setup you’ve described.

I’m marking this as resolved for now.
