    Hi,

I just tried updating my Give plugin and got knocked out of WP Admin area. I then deleted the Give plugin via FTP and was able to get back into WP Admin area.

Then I reuploaded the Give plugin, but now get this error=
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_FUNCTION in /home/content/27/9031927/html/wp-content/plugins/give/includes/admin/shortcodes/abstract-shortcode-generator.php on line 329

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi @mechele7 do you have a URL where I can see this error? I’m going to investigate into this issue

Ok I’m pretty sure I have a fix ready for this… I would like to just confirm on your end prior to pushing out if possible.

Hi, thanks for getting back to me so quickly. The site is rescueridge.com. You can see where the plugin was being used right on the home page.

At @mechele7 – can you activate it again? Or is that part of the problem?

Yes, that’s the problem. When I try to activate the Give plugin, I get this error message=
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_FUNCTION in /home/content/27/9031927/html/wp-content/plugins/give/includes/admin/shortcodes/abstract-shortcode-generator.php on line 329

    Hi @mechele7

I got your info and took a quick look. Here’s what I did and what I’d suggest:

    1) I installed a tool called “Send System Info” which allows me to see relevant information about your hosting environment. It showed that your host is running PHP version 5.2.17 This is VERY old and no longer updated or supported. I would suggest you contact your host and ask them to upgrade your version of PHP to at least 5.4 or higher.

    2) You are running another donation plugin at the moment. Just to be safe, I’d suggest deactivating that before trying to activate Give.

Let me know how those two things pan out for you.

    Thanks!

    Hi @mechele7

Just to clarify, your host updated your version of PHP and then all was well? Can you clarify that?

    Thanks!
