How to create blog page

Hi folks. I tried searching for this, but the solutions I found were a couple years old and I imagine we’ve moved on…

I am using the Customizr theme on a client site which contains a fair number of blog posts. I’d like to have a page linked from the navigation at the top that shows the 10 most recent posts, with a link to navigate to older posts at the bottom of the list. Standard blog format.

I can get this to happen if I set my front page to static, and assign a blank page to show my posts. Great! Unluckily, that also seems to force the posts onto my home page and I lose the slider and featured page icons that are the reason the client likes this theme in the first place.

Am I missing something? Is there a place where I can indicate that I want the page title Blog to show the most recent blog post excerpts?
