    Seriously, my favorite shopping cart is holding me back from getting a better Page Speed? Bummer.

    There is a plugin for that: Remove query strings from static resources

    I think in this case the query strings are there to force any browsers with old cached versions to reload the current resources. Not having the query strings is OK if you have just cleared your cache but unsafe in the wild.
