• What I need is to add the additional fields of gender, orientation, and country to the search form. this is data which was entered by each member on registration using s2 members-pro.
There are dropdown menus for each
can you explain very simply and step by step how to achieve this, I’m not a coder or a developer.

    Hi TheWife2,

Unfortunately s2Member fields are not supported by the current plugin version. Sorry!

OK, well the data is also already on each members buddy press profile can we take it from there?

Yes, if you had data in BuddyPress profile fields you could use BP Profile Search to search them. But I’m afraid that those data are simply displayed on the profile page, they are not actually stored in BuddyPress profile fields.

Of course it’s possible to develop code and make s2Member fields searchable by BP Profile Search. If s2Member authors were interested in doing that, I’d be happy to help.

could we achieve it through their simplepress forum profile data?

Yes, but there is the same problem. Simple:Press fields are not supported by the current BP Profile Search version, but it’s possible to develop code and make them searchable. If Simple:Press authors are interested in doing that, I’m available to help.

    their response
“Pass along to the dev they are stored just like standard wp profile fields… That is, as user meta… So the meta name will match the slug of the name you gave the customer profile field when you created it….
So if they store their profile data like wp does, it should simple… If they store differently, they will probably have to do a wp user meta query…”

    Hi TheWife2,

I know that BP Profile Search could support Simple:Press and the many dozens of plugins and themes that create their own user profile fields, but then BP Profile Search would become very big and very difficult for me to maintain.

That’s why I’d prefer Simple:Press to include support for BP Profile Search instead, and I’m available to help them if they are interested.

Im sorry andrea but they are not being very keen or supportive, their reply:

“and of course the converse is just as true… which is why we used STANDARD wp storage for profile data.. so any other plugin using wp profile data would get direct access to the sp custom profile fields…”

so i guess its up to us to fix this

Well, another solution I can suggest is to start a paid project to support Simple:Press within BP Profile Search. If you are interested, please use my contact page.
