No, normally only an administrator can use that feature. A regular user can open the “reset” URL, yes, but it won’t do anything. If the plugin detects the user doesn’t have admin access, it won’t reset the menu.

Thank you for your prompt response…i will test it out again….

Now something else more interesting came to mind and I hope you can help…

my situation: assuming that we are using the PRO version:

    * I have ONE menu item that i like other users to have access to.
    * This menu item has the default Required capability as “Administrator”
    * So I gather that i need to give those users the role of an “admin” for them to access that menu item.
    * So if this is the case and that user “admin” were to use the reset
URL – that would mean the whole menu section would be visible. Is this correct?
Perhaps my thinking is way off track but if not is there another way to protect the rest of the menu from becoming visible in my case above?
    looking forward to your response…
    Thank you

Interesting, I received an identical questions via email. I’ll just quote my response:

Yes, if you make someone an administrator, then by default they will be able to reset the admin menu.

There is a way around that, and it even works in the free version. Try this:

    1. Go to the menu editor page and click the “Settings” button.
    2. Change “Who can access this plugin” to “Only the current user”
    3. Enable the option “Hide the “Admin Menu Editor Pro” entry on the “Plugins” page from other users”.
    4. Save changes.

This will prevent all other users from accessing the plugin or resetting the menu, even if they are administrators. Note, however, that if you ever switch to a different account, or delete/recreate your user, you will lose access to the plugin.

All that said, it’s still generally not recommended to give regular users the Administrator role.

Hi…yes sorry that was me in the email as I didn’t know you were the same person….I keep it in one area from now on so it will not be confusing. i will try out what you have suggested and hope it will do the trick.
Thank you for your prompt reply…much appreciated!
