• Hi,

    after updating to the newest versions somehow the author page doesn’t show posts anymore attributed to the other.

    The bio of each other does appear in a post, but when I click on the others name, it doesn’t load the page anymore where all posts and a small bio of the author would show. Now it just jumps to the front page of the blog.

    Is there a way to fix this?

    This is how my authors urls are structured: blog/?author=1
    blog/?author=2 and so on.

  • Hi Afrika. Can you post a link to your site so we can have a look at the issue? Thanks.

    Hi bdbrown,
    this is the link to the blog: Mauritius Blog
    And you will see in the right all authors listed and when you click on them it loads a page where it says author but displays no byline and neither the posts attributed to that author.

    Maybe there’s a conflict with this plugin?

    No. I also have the authorsure plugin. Even if I disable all plugins the problem persists. It used to work before but after regularly updating all plugins it stopped working at some stage.

    I installed the plugin you mentioned because I have no other way of showing the posts of each author. But i preferred the older method where you click on an authors link and get to see their byline info bio plus all their posts.

    But i preferred the older method where you click on an authors link

    This functionality isn’t built into the theme. I’m guessing it was provided by one of the plugins you are using. I think I would disable all your plugins again. You might even go so far as to rename the plugins folder so they can’t be accessed at all. See if you can get back to the basic theme functionality of just displaying the default author’s bio below the post. If you can get to that point, rename the plugins folder and then reactivate the plugins one at a time to see which one is causing the issue.

    If i switch off all plugins or even keep them on, the theme has an author bio byline that I can switch on which will show the byline at the bottom but will not offer a link to click on to load only the authors post, which falls under what you mentioned that this functionality isn’t present. That’s why I use a plugin to also have an author link. Else I’ll just have to opt for the themes function and use the other plugin that just list ALL authors and ALL their posts on one page…

    Sounds like you got the default theme functionality to work when the plugins are switched off. And now you want to use the AuthorSure plugin to create a link on the post author bio, and that link goes to the author’s page? So now that the theme functionality is working correctly, what happens when you activate the AuthorSure plugin?

    Thread Starter AfrikaDietmar

    (@afrikadietmar)

    The default functionality of theme even works when all plugins are on.
    The default theme only shows an author byline (box with authors description at the end of the article with NO LINK on the authors name.).

    Exactly, with authorsure plugin, a similar author bio box at the end of the article is created including a link on the authors name and when you click on it, in the past a page used to load that will list all posts of the author. That’s still not working.

    I loaded up a fresh copy of the theme and installed the AuthorSure plugin, and it works just how you described, placing a second author box below the post. When I click the link, it opens the author page with a list of the author’s posts. So, I’m guessing there must be some other conflict going on. Have you tired uninstalling and reinstalling the plugin? I can’t access your site from my current location so will take a look later this evening.

    Here is the author link on my test site:

    href="http://my-site-url/author/author_name/"

    where “author_name” is set in the user profile “Display name publicly as ______”

    On your site it is:

    href="http://your-site-url/blog-en/?author=5"

    It isn’t just the AuthorSure link; the default author link at the top of the post under the title does the same thing so it’s something in your WP configuration. It looks like your Permalinks are set to the Default but it should still work. Try saving your Permalinks again, or setting the Permalinks to one of the other options and Save Changes.

    Tried that, uninstalled and reinstalled. Also switched off various other plugins but still it doesn’t work.

    I cannot switch on the URL permalink rewriting as my blog is already several years old and from various articles there are deeplinks on articles of my blog and also from the main website. But still, that is not the reason why the author isn’t working.

    I will have to try another template!? | though this one is ideally suited from its design…

    Does the author link at the top of the post work correctly?

    What happens if you switch to a default WP theme like Twenty Fifteen?

    Thread Starter AfrikaDietmar

    (@afrikadietmar)

    Just tried it and it doesn’t open each authors page, it always shows all posts and on which ever author I clicked, in the theme of twenty fifteen it would keep on showing the name of “Annika Schöbe” which is one of the authors. Could there be a conflict with her profile?

    Sorry – can’t find where to post a question on Hueman author. In my user profile I changed my nickname and display name, but hovering the mouse over the link of that display name shows my WP Admin email address! I do not want this to show. How do I remove it? The username cannot be changed (which is my email address). Thanks for pointers.
