• Hi folks, my computer crashed and I’m recovering everything. My website is active but I can’t access the admin side on WordPress, presumably because I no longer have it. If I reinstall WP will it wipe out everything on my page?

    Thanks

  • Hello, 1mikethebuilder1, & welcome to the WordPress support forum. I’m sorry. I’m a bit confused by your query.

If you had your site installed on your computer, i.e., using a stack like Wamp or Mamp, then yes, the website would be entirely gone. Since you say it’s still active, however, then this doesn’t appear to be the case.

If your website is still active, then your computer crash would have nothing to do w/logging in. Usually, one simply goes to http://www.domainname.com/wp-admin & enters a username & password. If you’ve forgotten those, then you can at least click the ‘Forgot Password’ link & have that sent to you. You can view your username by going into PHP MyAdmin, which is available on most hosting providers’ control panels, click the database that powers your site, then browse wp_users to determine your username. If your hosting provider doesn’t have PHP MYAdmin, it almost assuredly has a similar facility. I advise you to get in touch w/your hosting provider regarding that.

    HTH.
