Support » Plugin: Updraft » OK but paying for support on a premium plugin?

  • I use this plugin a lot and purchased the full version with all add-ons, which was necessary for me, as I tend to move sites around from host to host.

However, it’s not the easiest plugin to use and the interface can be a bit of a struggle at times, certainly if you’re not used to it.

Infuriatingly though, it’s the developer’s own web site and support that lets it down.

Updraft Plus is not cheap, yet after purchase, you have so many support credits, after which time you have to pay – but try navigating the developer’s site to get that support.

Just when you’ve found it, you discover that you need the original purchase information, so have to go off looking for that too.

For this reason, if I were looking for a backup plugin right now, I would probably look elsewhere.

It’s still a good plugin though and does what it claims, pity that the most useful things have to come at a premium though.

  • Hi there!

I’m not sure where this came from – there’s never been such a system. UD comes with 12 months of support, but there’s no system for counting or limiting the number of times you call upon support – and never has been.

, after which time you have to pay

Yes, after *time* – 12 months, which is the norm for commercial WP plugins – you’ll need to renew, if you want access to our personal support after that. There are 40% discounts for renewing for another 12 months: http://updraftplus.com/renewing-updraftplus-purchase/ . These help pay the salaries of the full time professionals who provide the support, so that customers can rely upon actually getting reliable support. (If you see someone elsewhere offering you support for the rest of your life for a few dollars, that’s not something that’s actually going to happen – quality support needs funding; trained employees ultimately have to eat).

but try navigating the developer’s site to get that support.

Go to updraftplus.com. There’s a menu bar at the top of every page; move to the one that says “Support”. Then click on “FAQs”, or “forum”, or “customer support form”, depending upon which is most convenient for you.

    Best wishes,
    David
