media library suggestions

Hello,
I’d like to make one small change to the media library. If, for example, a media file gets deleted from outside the media library, there should be some kind of notice in the library. Also, if your file isn’t displaying properly, there should be an option within the media library to update the file and see if it works again, potentially eliminating the need to upload it again. For example, I have an audio file that for some reason, keeps saying the length is 00:00:00. I’m not sure what causes this, but it’s happened to me twice now, the first I re-uploaded the offending audio file and it worked, and it looks like I’ll have to do that again. What I’m proposing is a simple “update file” button that forces WordPress to re-examine the file and hopefully, at least in my case, fix it.
