• I hope this helps others. I recently purchased S2member and noticed that their old forum was changed to now provide support using WordPress.org (arg!!). As we all now, trying to find an answer to a question using wordpress.org’s support can be very difficult. A good way to find an answer to a question on their old forum is to use Google.

Many of you are probably not aware that Google has some incredible search capabilities. One such search variable is to search Google’s index from a specific domain name.

    Do this…

    1) Open a new tab and go to Google

    2) In the search field, type:
    site:www.s2member.com/forums partial content
(Note: Do not add a space after site:)

In this case I wanted to get information specifically on how to display a post using S2member with only “partial content” if a user is not logged in or if they don’t have access rights to a particular page or post.

If you start with site: then the domain name you’re wanting to search for in the search field, then a space and the words you’re looking for, you end up querying Google for any words you’re looking for but ONLY from the URL you’ve entered.

This is also a great way for you to also see what pages Google has indexed using your own domain name.
    Example:
    site:your-domain.com

Below are some other search examples….

This searches only ebay.com for any instance of the word segway
    Example:
    site:ebay.com segway

This searches all of S2member.com for any instance of the word Stripe
    Example:
    site:S2member.com Stripe

This searches all of S2member.com’s old forum for any instance of the word Stripe
    Example:
    site:S2member.com/forums Stripe

I bring this up because the old forum S2Member was using still has a lot of useful information that isn’t posted here on WordPress.org.

I hope this helps you not only find answers to your S2member questions, but also for everything else you need an answer to.

  • This is a great tip and there is a lot of good information on those old forums, but there is also some out-dated information. We are working hard on getting the good information out and turned into Knowledge Base articles.

So, my suggestion is simple: include the entire s2member.com site in your search, rather than just the forums: site:S2member.com. webauthor included that as an option, but then went on to show you how to limit the search to the forums. I say “Why limit yourself?” A search of the entire site will catch both the forums and the Knowledge Base.
