Do you have any error message in the Overview page?
If you don’t have any but only worry about no having the “PHP Hook” label as shown in that screenshot, that’s normal because we removed it lately (see this discussion).

No error message! And I have been receiving email notifications from Ninja about actions I have taken while working on my sites.
So I assume the plug-in is working for me.

Should I be running Akismet with NinjaFirewall?
You can use Akismet, NinjaFirewall does not include an antispam in the WP edition, they will work well together.
To test the firewall, you can try this:
1. Log out of the admin dashboard (because the admin is whitelisted by default).
2. Go to http ://YOUR_WEBSITE.TLD/?test=hack%00
You should be blocked.
