    Hi Angelo,

Please refer to the Open Graph Protocol – http://ogp.me/

Your theme/an open graph plugin can cater for this for you.

    Thanks,

    David

    Hi David,

Please, let me understand I’m not very skilled in programming.
Do you mean it’s a theme problem?
How can I explain if is a theme issue to the theme’s developer?
I understand it’s a problem of adding opengraph metadata but I cannot waste hours to add each page correct metadata in opengraph style.
So I need to understand if there’s a simple way to do it.
I know for instance that once I publish my post I cannot change the feature picture cause facebook still retain the first one. So I pay attention to select the correct one but this of google plus I have no workaround so far.
Tell me in few words what is the possible solution.
    Thanks
    Angelo

    Hi Angelo,

It is debatable as to whose responsibility it is to provide share meta functionality like this:

    – A good theme will have it built in
    – A good SEO plugin will have it built in
    – A good share buttons plugin will have it built in

An important thing to note is that Facebook caches it’s share details information for 30 days, which can be refreshed manually using its debugger – https://docs.simplesharebuttons.com/plus/meta-tags/#facebook-debugger

If the featured image is key, free open graph plugins can cater for this no problems, as can Simple Share Buttons Plus – https://docs.simplesharebuttons.com/plus/meta-tags/#use-feature-images

Google Plus will utilise the same information if it is present.

I tried to look at the Google+ link you provided but got a 404 error, if you can provide a link to a live example I can take a look for you.

    Thanks,

    David

    Hi Angelo,

    You’re very welcome.

I have tried to look at the fresh link your provided but unfortunately am still getting a 404 error – http://ge.tt/71alA6N2/v/0

I wonder if it’s due to the privacy settings of your posts?

    Thanks,

    David

    Hi Angelo,

I have added you but am getting a message saying that you have not shared anything with me.

Please note that any previously share posts cannot be ammended. If you update the open graph information then try again (after clearing your website’s cache if needed), any future posts should be ok.

    Thanks,

    David

    Hi Angelo,

There’s no obvious reason as to why this may be the case, the only thing I can presume is that the information has been cached by Google+ and shall be updated at some point.

I’ve noted that you have a premuim plugin – http://www.seodesignsolutions.com/wordpress-seo/

This is adding the information that is required for social sharing, I would suggest it best that you discuss your requirements with them as it will take presedence as to what information is displayed when sharing.

    Thanks,

    David

    Hi David,

It’s something relating to your plugin, because I went in search on SEO ultimate and metadata on Open Graph Integrator show correctly title and link

So something get mixed in the sharer
    Maybe I’m wrong

    Thanks

    David,

It’s not a premium but base plugin SEO ultimate.
So, if it happen for some reason that’s very strange because also tumblr use opengraph but it’s always correct.
Only when I share with Google plus from your plugin it’s wrong.
I don’t use Google plus in other way but I will see how to make a new test creating directly the post using the page link and see what happen if it is possible

    Thanks
    ANgelo

EDIT: IT’S a Google plus problem. I tried with 2 different page links and it add a random title taken elsewere in my site. I don’t know how to solve it. If I create more post directly in Google plus, adding a page link it shows each time a different title for the same link.

I’m driving crazy because I tested all possible selection options in the SEO plugin. Opening the inspector in chrome all OG tag seem are correct but even new post if I add to certain category the link on google plus show a different incorrect title with other the title is correct but miss the description.

Any hint? DO I have to give a try to Open Graph plugin?

    Hi David,

I think something wrong could be in the plugin, it adds a code part to link url.
I solved the Google plus problem adding a plugin only for OG and testing the tumblr button from inside the post using the new plugin box it shows correctly the page.
I’m sure that latest WP 4.3 innovations caused problems to many plugin structure maybe to your too.

    Thanks for checking my site
