• Hello,

I am new to wordpress and I have a major problem orchestrating my old site and my new wordpress site. I decided to move my new wordpress site to the old domain(because the old domain has a good ranking).
So basically I have an old website with an old domain and a new wordpress site with a new domain. I want to move the content of the new domain to the old domain such that the new content will override the old content. As for the new domain, I want it to reroute to the old domain(having the updated content).

What is the easiest way to do this rerouting?
    Looking forward for your reply.

    Thank you in advance!

  • Migrating content and replacing all the instances of your old domain to the new domain can be tricky without the right tools. Probably the easiest thing for that (aside from buying a good tool like WP Migrate DB Pro to do it), is to export the content and import it into the new site. Then use a plugin like Better Search Replace to search and replace all the instances in the database.

For rerouting the old site to the new site, it’s probably best to do a 301 redirect in your web hosting control panel, or via a .htaccess rule. You can ask your host about this. Make sure you do this piece last in case you need to get back to the old site for something related to the migration.
