How to add Guest Authors to twentyfourteen theme?

    I will have various Guest Authors each week submit their work to me, I will edit it and then publish it. However, I need to be able to write each person’s name as the author even though they are not registered.

    I downloaded “co-authors plus”, however it says to go under Tools to add a Guest User and there is no option available under Tools. It says the plugin is not tested with the latest twentyfourteen so maybe that’s the issue.

    I have never gone in and changed the theme code so I have no idea how to do it that way.

    Does anyone know a simple way for me to publish posts and be able to change the author to whoever I want? Thanks!

    How many new authors do you have?

    You can add them in add users with a fake email address (different each time).

    Then they will show up in the posts page. You need to check the box author in screen options on the new post page.

    I will have about 4-6 a month. Would I have to make a fake email and password for each one? Then save that info and log myself out and then log back in as them? Or is it easier than that?

    No. You only need the fake email to register them with your site. After that, after you edit the work and while posting it, you can select the author. They will show up as a choice of author.
