I have a Local WP Install (WAMP), I am familiarizing myself with everything. When I edit a post and hit ‘preview’ a knew browser window opens up each time.

after a while, as you can imagine, going back and forth / editing and making changes, previewing , I then have multiple browser tabs open.

I have seen Authors present videos where they don’t seem to have this issue as they make changes.

Does anyone know how I can remedy this problem, so that I am just getting one Browser Tab (refreshing) as I am working locally on the site?

    thank you,

    spatio

  • I cannot seem to reproduce your issue. Here’s the steps I took using Mac Safari 8.0.8 and WordPress 4.3:

    1. Went to site
    2. Logged in as admin
    3. Went to Posts > Add New
    4. For Enter title here, entered Test
    5. For Body, entered Test.
    6. Clicked Preview
    7. Clicked back to Edit page
    8. For Body, entered Test 2. on another line
    9. Clicked Preview

    Result:
Previously spawned “Preview” page simply updated. No new page was created.

Please let me know what steps I need to add/remove in order to reproduce your issue.

Also, it is almost always prudent to deactivate ALL plugins and switch your theme back to the default Twenty Fifteen theme just to make sure your issue doesn’t have anything to do with 3rd party add-ons.

Also, do be sure you’re clicking back to the original Edit page and NOT on the newly created Preview page’s “Edit Post” link. Because that would reproduce your issue and is expected behavior! 🙂
