• Hi, a website that i built no longer recognises my username and password on the admin screen, nor that of my colleagues who have user accounts.

I have read topics on how to fix this but for know i’m just trying to find out whether this means the site has been hacked or if there are any other things that can cause admin credentials to just stop working?

    Thanks

Have you tried resetting the password, using your email address?

Have you got access to the hosting control panel? If so, you can use phpMyAdmin to access the MySQL database and find out whether your username and email are still in there. You can even change the password that way.

    Thanks Jason.

Quick update, having arrived at work this morning all accounts are now working, though we’ve not done anything here to fix this?

I have accessed the MySQL database and all usernames and emails are still in place. I’m a bit confused by this. My concern is that the site has been hacked, though we’re not seeing anything looking untoward?

No idea why. And you may never find out. Don’t assume a hack, possible but less likely explanation.

Soon as you can, check you have a full backup of the site and review your backup routines.
