• This is regarding a site I did for a client about a year ago and who has chosen to let his site go without maintenance. I was unable to convince him that this was a bad idea. The url is here. Initially I left my email in the settings where it would be the recipient of notifications. However, as time as gone by and it has become more out of date I switched that email to his so he would be made more aware of it’s need for attention.

The problem is that even though his email is in the settings, I continue to receive notifications. The latest are some very persistent ones about comments in need of approval. He has no blog, so these are spammers who have found a way in. I don’t know if he is also receiving these messages, but I am at a loss as to why I continue to receive them and how to stop them (short of him taking some sort of action).

He has both admin and editor roles for login, but I suspect he has never logged into the site.

I thought the email in settings was the primary ‘go to’ email and don’t know if I am mistaken or if this is some sot of bug. How can I fix this so WordPress does it’s job and relays notifications to the site owner and wakes him up?

    Thank you

    codex guide:
    https://codex.wordpress.org/Settings_General_Screen

you can also check email in the database:
    – to check the users’s Email, look closer at the key/value pairs inside the wp_usermeta table.

The Codex confirms my understanding that the email address placed in Settings is the one where notifications will be sent. Since this is not what is happening, are you proposing that the database might not contain the data in Settings? I took a look and, while I can see the User roles are all present, I am not able to interpret the fields beyond that.
The Codex indicates that the emails in the roles themselves should be considered separate from what is entered in the Settings. It continues to seems like some sort of a bug to me.

    – I have not heard of it.

    – You try updating to the latest version 4.2.4

This website is not mine and not currently in my care. In spite of periodic urging on my part, the site owner continues to ignore suggestions that he update it. Thus my interest in fixing this so he will be the one receiving a voice other than mine (in the form of alerts from the site) so he will do the right thing and update it.

    Any other suggestions?

    Thank you
