    I know this is a popular question, and “try W3 ToTal Cache plugin” is a popular answer but after configuring the Settings recommended by other users it blocked my entire site – just a blank page appeared after I saved the settings.

    So, can someone please describe how to eliminate render-blocking JavaScript and CSS in above-the-fold content?

    Thank you sincerely!

  • This is a very common question. One that I have tried to figure out for a while. My verdict is that you cannot really fix it. I have tried multiple plugins and even switched themes but it still shows up in the google diagnostic. But, it isn’t that big of a deal. It doesn’t mean that much at all.

    The only possible fix that you could try is this plugin. https://wordpress.org/plugins/above-the-fold-optimization/

    Thank you, Matthew – I agree with you. I’ve tried the “Above-the-Fold” plugin as well, by the way – still get the Google warning, but I’m now getting a diagnosis of 73/100 Mobile, 85/100 Desktop using a combination of these plugins:

    * Regenerate Thumbnails
    * Speed Booster Pack
    * Autoptimize
    * W3 Total Cache

    …so I’m leaving it at that.
    Best regards!
