    Hi,
after the last theme-update my dashboard shows me this message:

“This theme recommends the following plugin: Redux Framework.”

At the moment, my site looks like it should be, without installing this plugin. Before installing this plugin, can you tell me:
    – What is it good for?
    – Are there any disadvantages without installing it?

    Greetings
    Jonny

    Thank you for your help.

    Dara:
That directory is outside of our core. You will need to contact the developers of Evolve. They are the ones who made that icomoon-admin extension. 😉

    Hi,

You can use ftp, go to evolve/library/admin/redux-extensions/extensions/
and find the folder icomoon-admin. Delete the whole icomoon-admin folder and it’s files. That folder is for WordPress admin -> Theme Options menu icons only.

Alternatively, you can revert back to previous Evolve Theme version using the following download link.
    https://downloads.wordpress.org/theme/evolve.3.3.0.zip

    Thanks!

Redux is embedded within the theme, but you will gain access to a powerful panel instead of just having the customizer. You basically have access to that.

Also you get updates to the Redux Framework without having to have the Evolve authors update Evolve. 😉

It won’t hurt you either way, it’s just a few more features with the plugin installed. 😛

    Thanks!

What kind of features does the Redux panel have that the customizer doesn’t. I’m still figuring the whole thing out, and I had the same question, but I want to know if it will help my site and what I want to do, or is it mostly for developers who know a lot of code? I know a little, but not sure if the Redux will help me out at all.

Evolve already HAS Redux embedded within it. The issue is the WP.org repo doesn’t allow for themes to offer “panels.” If you install the Redux plugin, you will get updates for Redux that override the embedded version of Redux evolve has.

The panel that appears will be the same “fields” as in the customizer, but they’ll be in a panel format.

Either way you’re using Redux. It’s just do you want more options, or are you fine with just the customizer. 😉

I am still having an issue with the latest update (8/9/2015) on Evolve. I get the same type of error as previously posted:

“Warning: file_exists(): open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/www/htdocs/w012d2b5/thanknet.de/wp-content/themes/evolve/library/admin/redux-extensions/extensions/icomoon-admin/style.css/extension_style.css.php) is not within the allowed path(s): (/www/htdocs/w012d2b5/:/tmp:/usr/bin:/www/htdocs/w012d2b5:/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/share/php:/dev/urandom) in /www/htdocs/w012d2b5/thanknet.de/wp-content/plugins/redux-framework/ReduxCore/inc/class.redux_api.php on line 514”

and so far only reverting back to 3.3.0 has fixed the problem for me. When I update I can’t even access the WP admin page, I have to reinstall the previous version from the back end. As recommended previously:

“Alternatively, you can revert back to previous Evolve Theme version using the following download link.
    https://downloads.wordpress.org/theme/evolve.3.3.0.zip”

Is there an eta on a fix?

    Hi terriecarlson,

    It’s already been remove.
See the WordPress.org trac, the files and folders are already remove from extensions folder.
    https://themes.trac.wordpress.org/browser/evolve/3.4.3/library/admin/redux-extensions/extensions

They are shifted one level up to prevent those errors.

Please delete your theme and install a fresh copy from WordPress.org

And one more thing, next time Please kindly open your own thread, we normally don’t read a thread that is marked resolved.

    Thanks!

This file is a PHP executable file and contains an eval() function and base64() decoding function on the same line. This is a common technique used by hackers to hide and execute code. If you know about this file you can choose to ignore it to exclude it from future scans.

Do anyone knows about how to handle this.

    Hi sandhyaycc,

It’s a false positive, please read this thread. https://wordpress.org/support/topic/false-positives-with-the-redux-framework?replies=5

You are safe to ignore it.

    Thanks!
