• Timliness of support needs improving. I finally got the answers I needed to give the application a 5 star rating.

  • Hey, Marcus. With the release Postmatic have put out this week, I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s just because they’ve been incredibly busy. Either that, or there’s a good reason why they haven’t resolved the conflict. They’re normally incredibly responsive.

I wouldn’t write the plugin off just because of that. It’s a great plugin, and Postmatic give great customer service.

I have to say, giving a plugin dev a 1-star review because of a conflict with another plugin is pretty petty. Heck, if we all did that with themes and plugins, there’d be thousands of 1-star reviews…

As Chris mentions, the PM support team are incredibly responsive and frequently work with other devs to try and make their plugin work with others. You only need to see the various support for other plugins that each version of PM comes out with.

If the plugin itself is faulty, or buggy, or simply crap, then by all means leave a 1-star review. But doing so because it doesn’t work with something (that, in fairness, it doesn’t need to do) is pretty sad.

I meant what I stated. Buckets is important to us and I was unable to get Postmatic to work with the Buckets developer.

However in light of that, we decided Postmatic was a good product so we removed Buckets from our Posts and only use it for Pages now.

Subsequently, we had another compatibility clash between Postmatic and WP-Members. The WP-Members developer offered up a code solution and Postmatic’s Dylan quickly refined it. Bottom line: this time both plugin developers collaborated and quickly resolved the issue. Now our membership plugin co-exists with Postmatic. The solution is a great workaround whereby WP-Members is shut-off temporarily just at the time a Postmatic Post is Published. Nice job to Postmatic and WP-Members on this!

Finally, after working with Jason and Dylan I am glad we chose Postmatic Premium. We have only one more issue with the emails received by our Members and then its good to go. Because of the complexity of our site Postmatic was not an ‘easy’ install.

In case you didn’t know, a person can change their own star rating in the home or Description tab for any plugin…

Also.. Marcus… as I mentioned in our previous conversation – there actually isn’t a conflict between Postmatic Premium and Buckets… so feel free to use it on Posts as well!

For the record: there may or may not be a conflict between Buckets and Postmatic Free. It hasn’t been a priority for us to figure it out yet given their limited installation base, it not effecting our paying users, and that the reported conflict is not critical.

Jason of Postmatic tried to get me to change my review and up the number of stars. He is rigging the system. He thinks all 5-stars is the way to go. How honest is that? Not very! After failing to resolve the issue with Buckets and Postmatic he tried to get me to change my review.

By the way Jason is the one who identified the conflict between Buckets and Postmatic and he said Buckets was the problem. Then when there was a problem between WP-Members and Postmatic he said WP-Members was the problem.

You know what? Jason is the problem.

@marcus – OK, I’m disclosing right up front that I am a very happy user of Postmatic, and their support and willingness to work with other platforms and plugins has continuously impressed me. If you want to call me an advocate for Postmatic, so be it.

Marcus, man, you don’t want much, do you? Going by the thread here, originally you gave a 1-star review because of a compatibility issue with a plugin. Then you advise you actually like the product you gave the 1-star review to, and went ahead with that and removed the plugin that wasn’t compatible with the 1-star reviewed one.

Now, because of an issue with another plugin (which it looks like the developer advises has certain hooks needed to make Postmatic work nice with it), you go on the offensive? And, yes, contrary to what you might think, phrasing like, “…quite honestly I wish you’d quit your childish banter. Get on with it Jason and please meet Chad half way here.” is abusive.

Postmatic (and any other service/plugin/platform) isn’t here for your whims and needs. They’ve tried to make it work, but I’m not surprised they decided this particular ask wasn’t worth the effort, given your continuous moaning when something doesn’t work just so for you.

Like you, I have a premium account. That doesn’t mean I expect Postmatic to work with every plugin I have, or theme I use. Nor does it mean I will harangue them to do so because I pay a whopping $9 per month. That premium fee is to make sure their product works for their users on their service, and not to be compatible with Plugin A from Developer B and needing Coding X and Y to make it work.

If I had been Postmatic, I probably would have dropped you a long time ago, but then that’s why their service and attitude (and patience) is much better than mine, and one that’s gotten them a very loyal community.

It’s clear to see who “the problem” is here.

@dannybrown I don’t believe my reviews are to be criticized by you. You are in effect attacking me for giving my review. Sorry I didn’t check with you first Danny. My reviews are primarily for Postmatic but if others gain information from reading reviews that’s great.

I don’t go to your 5-star reviews and rip you up for giving an unearned 5-star review for a immature product you barely know and, it hasn’t been on the market that long. Yet when I give a 1-star review for poor Postmatic support (not the product itself) you think it your place Danny to jump in and defend Postmatic and then make assumptions about my whims and other nonsense like that.

I’m not sure why you are talking about money either. You know Danny as they say on Shark Tank, “You’re dead to me. Get out of here!”

Haha, bravo Marcus, for proving my last sentence.

I wasn’t “attacking you” for giving a review, I was simply offering my counter take on the Postmatic support (which others have done here too, and are quite right to do so – it is an open web, after all).

But, hey – given you’re the type that posts private exchanges on the web, I won’t lose too much sleep over your consternation.

This thread is, well, what it is. I’ll try to close it out with a few points for future wanderers:

    1. There are no conflicts between Buckets and Postmatic Premium. If you are running the free version of Postmatic and run into a problem with Buckets (or any other plugins) please email our support team at support@gopostmatic.com.
    2. Postmatic may or may not work with your membership (or any other kind of) plugin, depending on what it is. We’ve started a guide about Postmatic and Membership Plugins which you can find here. Our documentation site has tons of constantly updated information and is a really good resource.
    3. Using actions and filter hooks in your themes functions.php file you can make Postmatic work with WP-Members. We have an overview of that here.

Thank you Jason for completing the code provided by WP-Members’ Chad Butler that allows comments arriving from Postmatic. I’m not sure why you refrained from doing so when I initially provided you Chad’s code but, I am thankful it is completed now.

Also, I am sorry for getting offended at your comments when I thought you were criticizing WP-Members and especially Chad’s code. As you can see I am sometimes over zealous regarding my developers and e-mails can be quickly misconstrued. Chad wasn’t offended as he could see how you would come to your conclusion.

After a lot of thought I have changed my rating of the plugin. Thank you @crzyhrse for the tip on this.

Finally, I am glad you resolved the issue with Buckets causing the e-mail content to duplicate itself when a Buckets shortcode was present in the Post content.

The positive that comes out of this entire long back & forth is now there are new solutions for the WP-Members plugin that block Post content and Comments. My kudos to Dylan and Chad for getting this solved.
